THE HIGH COST OF CLUTTER

Clutter costs you TIME. A 2003 Simple Living survey found that the average American spends almost an hour a day searching for items they have misplaced. And if you do the math … that means that we spend a full TWO WEEKS per year in absolute frustration as we search for our car keys, cell phones, important papers, scissors, pens/pencils, etc., etc. I don’t know about you, but I can think of a lot better use of two weeks of my life than that!

Clutter costs you MONEY. How many times have you bought an item you already have because you couldn’t find it when you needed it? How many times have you paid a late fee on a bill you’ve misplaced? I have had clients clear clutter and discover checks owed to them, gift cards that had been lost and coupons that could have saved them money many times over had they been easily accessible.

Clutter affects your HEALTH. Let’s face it, clutter is stressful and frustrating. No matter how you try to shift items from place to place or room to room, living with clutter is a constant drain on your health and well-being. It’s a stress that you carry with you every day which gets triggered and re-triggered each time you look at your clutter. And, on a purely practical level, clutter gathers dust and other allergens by giving them a place to set up shop.

Clutter affects your RELATIONSHIPS. Have you made excuses to friends when they want to drop by your house? If you’re single, does the thought of dating make you cringe – all because you would never want to invite someone special into your space? If you have a family, does the clutter create arguments and increase tension in your home?

Clutter affects your SELF ESTEEM. How many times have you promised yourself that you will take steps to tackle your clutter … but it rarely happens? And then do you beat yourself up because you’ve “failed”? Well, you haven’t failed. It’s next to impossible to keep promises to yourself to clear your clutter when you are distracted and overwhelmed; it’s difficult to find the energy to sort the paperwork on your desk when you are depressed. And the cycle continues – you become depressed because you can’t do the things you need to do to move your life forward, but you can’t move your life forward if you can’t clear out your space.

That’s where I come in. I’ll help you break the cycle of clutter and disorganization. I’ll walk you through the process, step by step, and create solutions that work for you. I think you’ll be amazed at how much easier (and faster) clearing your clutter is with someone who’s on your side. Let me help you take your life back from clutter.
